Streszczenie
Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies represent a group of heterogenous autoantibodies directed against cytoplasm of neutrophilic granulocytes. They have been detected in serum of patients with autoimmune disease. Assessment of antigenic specifities is not clear. They occur in systemic vasculitides, where their titers are related to disease activity. They have also prognostic significance in inflammatory bowel diseases, especially in ulcerous colitis and Crohn disease. The clinical significance of ANCA in autoimmune hepatitis is not clear, but they occur after long standing dysregulation of the immune system. Some autors point out on their association with more severe course and frequent relapses. Overlap syndromes, such as autoimmune hepatitis associated with primary sclerosing cholangitis and autoimmune hepatitis associated with ulcerous colitis, are also characterized by significantly high titers of ANCA.
