Streszczenie
The sudden losses of consciousness are one of the most frequent problems for paediatrician and GP. This loss of consciousness presents itself usually as a syncope and occurs in approximately 15% of all children. Although syncope in the paediatric age group appears to be an isolated phenomenon with good prognosis, it could also be a manifestation of a life threatening disease. So, the general approach to the patient with syncope demands a good understanding of the different causes of syncope. This article is an attempt to present an up to date knowledge on the etiology, diagnostic procedures and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents.
