Streszczenie
The aim of work was evaluation of severe leukemias in children at the moment of diagnosis but before applying proper therapy. The evaluation was based on cytomorphotic, cytochemical and immunologic examinations. The frequency of the immunologic types of severe leukaemia´s in children from north-east Poland including Białystok, Łomża and Suwałki Provinces (according to previous territorial division of country was evaluated. The cause of disease depending on the immunological type of sever lymphoblastic leukaemia was analysed Materials and methods: The examinations included 20 children treated in the II Clinic of Children Diseases. Cytochemical examinations included determinations of activities of myeloperoxidase, PAS, acid phosphatase. Antigens of leukaemic cells were detected by direct immunofluorescence method using flow cytometry and the method of immunoenzymatic APAP. Results of the immunologic examinations allowed to diagnose leukaemia´s of type of pre-B cells in 60% of the cases, „common” leukaemia in 20% of the cases T-cell leukaemia in 2 cases and pre-B cells leukaemia in 1 case. The clinical course of leukaemia in children with antigen CD7 was worse than in children without this antigen. The course of the disease was especially dramatic in two children with T-cell leukaemia. In spite of treatment the remission did not follow.
