Streszczenie
The aim of this study was to evaluate treatment results of children with primary isolated nocturnal enuresis (PINE) given Adiuretin. From among 1494 children referred to the Urodynamic Unit between 1991 and 1998 because of night-time wetting, 508 patients meeting the following criteria qualified for Adiuretin treatment: primary isolated nocturnal enuresis, over 6 years of age, 4 or more wet nights per week, minimum one month since the patient stopped taking other medication treating nocturnal enuresis. The appropriate dose of Adiuretin was chosen for each patient (2 to 6 drops) for three months. Where no improvement was noted even after a dose of 6 drops, treatment was stopped. In conclusions we found, that: 1. Adiuretin is a very effective medicine for treating primary isolated nocturnal enuresis. During the treatment nocturnal enuresis amongst 81,8% of the patients desisted and 7,1% experienced considerable improvement. 2. Adiuretin is well tolerated and safe. Temporary side effects were noted among 1,2% of the children. 3. An extensive medical assessment including a concise patient history of the problem is of great significance when choosing the appropriate form of treatment of night-wetting amongst children since the success of the therapy depends on the appropriate method of treatment recommended.
