Streszczenie
Traditionally, the vesicoureteral reflux has been considered as an anatomic defect in the area of the ureterovesical junction. It has been thought that short submucosal tunnels result in reflux. But examinations of children with refluxes showed that a significant role in the etiology of reflux play bladder and urethral dysfunction. The voiding abnormalities lead to a higher rate of reflux and, in essence, what we have traditionally considered "primary” reflux may be "secondary” to voiding dysfunction. In this understanding the treatment of reflux itself should focus not only on the correction of anatomical abnormalities, but also especially on the correction of voiding dysfunction and other functional abnormalities. For many years, open surgery was the standard method for the treatment of vesicoureteral reflux. In recent years, the endoscopic techniques for the correction of reflux have been developed as minimally invasive methods.
