Streszczenie
The worldwide increase in asthma incidences have led to new investigations of the cause of the disease. Evidence suggests that respiratory tract infections play an important role in the pathogenesis of asthma. Latest publications especially in the context of the possible role of Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydia pneumoniae infections in the origin of bronchial hyperresponsiveness are reviewed. The possibility of association of atypical bacteria infections with the initiation, promotion, exacerbation and modification of the course of asthma was shown.
