Streszczenie
Diabetic neuropathy is one of the most common and serious complications of diabetes. Damage to autonomic nerves in the course of diabetes mellitus leads to diabetic autonomic neuropathy. Many diabetic patients have demonstrated abnormalities of autonomic function without any evidence of clinical disease. Tests of autonomic function are assumed to be a measure of neurological state and may be important to assessing therapy. Cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction is not rare in children with diabetes, in the paediatric age group could be asymptomatic. Recent studies with the use of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) have shown that the physiological nocturnal fall in blood pressure is blunted or absent in some individuals with type 1 diabetes who are completely normotensive by conventional criteria.
