Streszczenie
The tasks of demography in the scope of examining the subpopulation of newborns focus on the questions significant from the point of view of the whole population reproduction process. The tendencies observed (in Poland and in the Opole region) show favourable changes taking place in the group of infants, the newborns included. Based on the level of indexes describing the condition of these groups, a positive tendency of reduction of infantile mortality, including the perinatal mortality may be observed.
The indicated tendencies become particularly important in the context of the more and more resticted population reproduction.
