Streszczenie
The concentration of metallothioneine (MT) was determined in tissues (kidney, liver, pancreas, heart and skeletal muscles) from rats chronicly intoxicated by cadmium acetate and physically efforted. The Wistar rats were divided into groups – control group, group of animals intoxicated by cadmium per os during 12 weeks (water solution of cadmium acetate 50 mg/ dm³) and group intoxicated by cadmium and efforted on the treadmill in time of 20 minutes. After the decapitation, in the tissue homogenates the metallothioneine concentration was determined by ELISA and cadmium concentration by ASA. There was noticed increase in the MT concentration after the cadmium exposure in all the investigated tissues apart from the skeletal muscle. In rats efforted on the treadmill the physical effort evoked the decrease in MT in kidney, liver, pancreas. The similar tendency was observed in the course of cadmium determination in tissues, and the highest accumulation was noticed in kidney and liver. Changes in MT concentration noticed after the physical effort and the cadmium exposure may be connected with the role of this protein as a free radicals scavenger.
