Streszczenie
Male osteoporosis represents an important, although long underestimated public health problem. Men lose bone mineral density at a rate of up 1% per year. One in eight men over the age of 50 years experiences an osteoporotic fracture and almost 30% of hip fractures occur in men. Mortality after osteoporotic fractures appears to be more common in men than in woman. The present report, based on a systemic search of the literature, summarize the clinical outcome of male osteoporosis, its risk factors and strategies for therapeutic interventions.
