Summary
This paper presents basic data on pathomechanism of hyperpigmentation. The clinical picture findings in the most pigmented lesions – freckles, lentigines and melasma are described.
Hyperpigmentations provoked by light and photosentising agents like psolarens, chlorpromazine, amiodarone, cytostatics are also discussed. The role of sunscreens in a therapeutic approach is stressed. Particular depigmenting medications (hydroxyacids, hydroquinone, azelaic acid, koije acid) and other methods like laserotherapy, kriotherapy, microdermabrasion are presented.
