Summary
Glucocorticosteroid preparations are highly important in the treatment of inflammatory, proliferative and autoimmune skin diseases. In the paper the mechanism is described of the action of glucocorticosteroids on receptors and direct action of the receptor/steroid complex on transcription factors. The principles of safe steroid treatment are discussed with reference to adverse effects.
