Summary
Prostate is the part of the male genitourinary system. It is the organ where pathogenic processes develope most frequently in male. In young men, inflammatory processes occur mainly, in older ones benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer prevail. A particulary important role in the diagnosis of diseases of the prostate is played by digital rectal examination (DRE) and determination of prostatic specific antigen (PSA) in serum.
