Summary
Lesions of neck arteries are the cause of about 15% of strokes. Procedures for restoration of patency of carotid arteries have been performeed for over 50 years. In recent years endovascular procedures have been carried out ever more frequently in these arteries. Despite their numerous advantages the place of endovascular operations has not yet been unequivocally indicated in tehese diseases.
