Streszczenie
In these paper significance and principles of symptomatic treatment of respiratory tract infections are discussed basing on existing credible scientific data. They payed special attention to principles of antipyretic and analgesic therapy with paracetamol and the ibuprofen as well as their effectiveness was compared in both of the ones applications. Also a possibility of their parallel applications was analyzed. They also made an appraisal of mucolytics and mucokinetics demonstrating their very much limited meaning and the effectiveness except for the ipratropium bromide. In the connection with quite ambiguous data about the effectiveness of mucolytics and mucokinetics they showed that taking them wasn´t being recommended in bronchitis, pneumonia and for acute bronchopulmonary disease exacerbation. In the light of present available knowledge they justifying only in chronic bronchopulmonary disease with regular and long-term exacerbations. Applying accessible data antihistaminics and alfasymapathicotonics are justified only at older children and adults sand at small children it should not be recommended. Presented data shows that in the benign respiratory tract infections antipyretic and analgesic therapy and appropriate hydration are most essential symptomatic curing of the sick person.
