Streszczenie
The aim of the research was to determine the anaerobic threshold (PPA) on the level of lactic acid equaling 4 mmol x 1-1 in short and medium distance runners.
The subjects of the research were twelve I, II and III sport-class athletes of age ranging from 19 to 24 years. The experiment was conducted twice in the preparatory period, with one-week interval.
In the first exercise the sportsmen were to perform a run on a motor driven treadmill. It was a run of raising speed, till exhaustion.
The speed of the run was increased every 3 minutes and between the particular series a one-minute interval was introduced, during which blood samples from ear lobe were collected in order to determine lactates concentration (enzymatic method).
After a one-week interval, the same athletes performed an analogous field test on the athlete stadium track. During both experiments the heart rate was recorded with the use of Sport-Testers PE 3000.
On the basis of the changes in lactates concentration, the PPA in both of the tests was determined as well as threshold speed (VPPA) and the threshold values of heart rate (HRPPA).
The (VPPA) in the laboratory test was 3.83 x s-1 and was a little lower than the one of the field run (4.18 x s-1).
The heart rate on PPA level equalled 174 min-1 in the treadmill run and 176 min-1 in the field run. The differences in the thresholds values were statistically insignificant. The above experiment proves the possibility of employing a treadmill in determining PPA in athletes.
