Streszczenie
Endometriosis, a benign gynecologic disorder, occurs in about 10% of women in reproductive age and in up to 50% of women with sterility. Endometriosis is defined as the presence of endometrial glandular and stromal cells outside their normal location in the uterus. While it is not malignant disorder, endometriosis exhibits cellular proliferation, cellular invasion and angiogenesis. Research on pathogenesis of endometriosis currently interface with areas of basic research, genetics, cancer biology and immunology. Here we focus on the later discipline and its relevance to endometriosis research.
