It is characterized by skin inflammation with superiority of Th1 activity. Pregnancy have considerable effect on the hormone levels like estrogen and progesterone. Endocrine milieu influence the maternal immune response by down - regulation of Th1 depending cytokines. This phenomenon aim to avoid rejection of fetus allograft. Many studies suggest improvement in psoriasis course during pregnancy, indicating the regulatory effect of estrogen or progesterone on the disease.
