Summary
In 2003 three important guidelines and recommendation related to diagnosing and management in hypertension were published. They were announced by Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (JNC 7) in may 2003, The European Society of Hypertension and European Society of Cardiology (ESH/ESC) in July 2003 and World Health Organization and The International Society of Hypertension in November 2003. The guidelines presented last year are similar in many respects but they show also some significant differences, what have still been a topic of many comments and discussions. In this connection it is advisable to compare these recommendations as regards the most essential aspects of diagnostics and treatment procedures. However their final applicability first of all will be verified by everyday practice and conducting present and future multicenter trials concerning on diagnostics and therapy of hypertension.
