Problemy laryngologiczne występujące u dzieci z zespołem Downa

Summary
Introduction. Down syndrome is the most common genetic syndrome which causes mental and physical retardation. Because of the increased risk of certain diseases, people with Down’s syndrome should be kept under regular supervision pediatricians, ophthalmologists and ENT. Among the diseases of ENT frequent disorder occurring in children with Down syndrome is obstructive sleep apnea. Middle ear dysfunction in children with Down syndrome occurs much more frequently than in the healthy population. Conductive hearing loss, which is the result of exudative otitis, contributes to delayed speech development, a significant deterioration in the development of language skills.
Aim. Analysis of ENT diseases on specific clinical cases of children with Down syndrome hospitalized in the Department of Pediatric Otolaryngology SPDSK in Warsaw.
Material and methods. Study group of 3 children with Down syndrome hospitalized in the Department of Pediatric Otolaryngology SPDSK in Warsaw. These children were subjected Laryngological. The study was a retrospective study.
Results. In all children is known allergy or allergy symptoms during allergy diagnosis. All the children had congenital heart disease. Hospitalizations of children with Down syndrome ENT reasons are multiple hospitalizations. Children are under constant control of ENT.
Conclusions. People with Down syndrome should be under the constant care of ENT due to the multitude of aural symptoms and their recurrence and the possibility of a sharp transition processes in chronic processes.
