Summary
Following eruption, permanent teeth require time to fully form their roots. Trauma or caries can lead to pulp necrosis or irreversible inflammation of the pulp. If pulp necrosis or irreversible inflamation of the pulp occurs, it is necessary to pharmacologically enable the complete development of the root, among others, by using calcium hydroxide or MTA – an apexification procedure. An alternative to that method of treating teeth with pulp necrosis is another method – revascularization. The last method has a lot of advantages and uses pulpo – dentinal potential.
Revascularization is a procedure that allows to revitalize the immature permanent tooth, thicken the canal walls and close the apex of the root. The method is being improved in order to eliminate some of its faults discussed in the article.
