Felinoterapia w usprawnianiu pacjentów onkologicznych

Summary
Introduction. Animal therapy or otherwise assisted therapy is a method of therapy and education involving accordingly prepared animals. Therapy cat or therapy with the help of the cat becomes an important element in therapy and one of the essential methods for improvement of both children and adults. Therapy cat is one way animaloterapii, in which the role of the therapist fully cat animal. The name comes from a combination of the Latin words felis – the cat and the Greek therapeia – therapy. Therapy cat used to improve the elderly, infirm and disabled and the physically and mentally handicapped children.
Aim. Main purpose of the material research is to present one of the animal therapy's methods (felinotherapy) and show its impact in improving process among oncological patients.
Material and methods. In the material research of the 25 patients were treating oncological diseases, who have participated in the feline therapy individually or in groups. Patients stayed in the hospice cancer of St. Christopher in Warsaw. Therapy cat was conducted by staff and volunteers of the Foundation “Together easier”.
Conclusions. Patients interviewed using a questionnaire survey. Patients reported feeling after class rest and relaxation. Some patients found that treatment with a cat motivates them to further treatment.
