Summary
Introduction. Despite decreasing maternal mortality, diseases and perinatal period are still a problem and account for more than half of the causes of infant deaths. Emerging during the mother’s pregnancy and the first six days of the infant’s life in danger, can be largely reduced by the applied health education.
Aim. The aim is to assess the level of educating pregnant women in the style of life and breastfeeding.
Material and methods. The survey was conducted by using a diagnostic survey questionnaire. The study was conducted in one of the teaching hospitals in Warsaw on a group of 107 pregnant women. The age range of the study group is 26-35 years old.
Results. The study shows that under the influence of interest in their health, increased belief that education is needed in pregnant women, and strengthened the conviction that it should be extended to the partners.
Conclusions. Health education of pregnant women and their partners need to gain knowledge about health, which will affect a better future for themselves and their offspring. The knowledge of health education is not due to the age of pregnant women, but from past experience and their willingness to use health education.
