Summary
The acute and chronic toxicity, the primary irritative activity, the sensitizing activity and the substances with sensitizing activity also the occuring of propolis allergy by health and ill people have been discussed. It could be stated that the contact allergy caused by propolis occurs rarely by health people, while by people with skin diseases is avoidable after doctor’s interview, by discontinuation of propolis use or by concurrent use of propolis and antiallergic remedies.The high amount of people healed with propolis preparations show that the benefit assessment of propolis use is not comparable with risk assesment. It should added, that the propolis allergy after internal application practically not exist.
