Biostymulujące właściwości entomopatogenicznych grzybów z rodzaju Cordyceps

Summary
Since more than thousands years, on Tibetan Plateau, a rare and exotic fungus has been prepared as a medicine for weakness and lowered libido, heart, kidney and lung diseases. The main function shall be immune biostimulating action and antitumor activity. However, recent studies showed that many of supplements have no activity toward low energy level, asthma or cancer. Biocompounds isolated from fungus grown in bioreactors are active against tumors and hypoglycemia. These two areas are being intensively investigated. Cordycepine, adenosine, polysaccharides and other secondary metabolites obtained in the bioreactors, are subjects of particular interest. There are proved scientific informations, which indicate that Cordyceps species possess desired pharmacological properties. Cordyceps cultures may serve as a source of drugs that stimulate the body to fight cancer, hypoglycemia and hypercholesterolemia.
