Hamujące działanie olejków eterycznych na wirusa HSV-1 i HSV-2

Summary
Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is differentiated into two antigenic of types 1 (HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2) and is an important pathogen for human. HSV is human pathogens which cause epidermal lesions in and around the oral cavity, the eye and in the mucous membrane of the genitals. Infections in immunocompromised patient are more severe. A problem is the emergence of resistant in acyclovir-treated immunocompromised patient. Consequently there is need for effective antiviral therapy. Essential oils are complex natural mixtures, e.g. monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes and phenylpropanoids and have been widely used in traditional medicine. Essential oil have inhibitory effect against HSV-1 i HSV-2. The topical use of essential oils for the treatment of HSV infections seems promising especially for those patients who experience frequent recurrences.
