Summary
About diabetes has been written hundreds of articles, but to her treatment was successful requires a comprehensive approach. Ability proper combination of nutrition education including diet and exercise along with medication is the only appropriate way of giving chances to the correct patient’s glycemic control. It was found that non-pharmacological treatment is equally important as pharmacotherapy. Sometimes, in the early stages of type 2 diabetes, diet and exercise are sufficient to control blood glucose levels without the use of oral therapy or insulin. Only after a few years, when resources are depleted of endogenous insulin, you must enter pharmacotherapy. The primary objective of all types of type 1 and type 2 diabetes is to achieve blood sugar levels close to normal. Appropriate use of therapy depends on the type of diagnosed diabetes. In type 1 diabetes treatment is the only way to use insulin because underlying this disease is an absolute deficiency of insulin. In type 2 diabetes drugs are used initially to lower insulin resistance, improving its operation and increasing the secretion of insulin from the pancreas. Recently, it is also complex, which in addition to treatment medications lowering blood sugar levels also cause a corresponding reduction of hypertension (including accelerating the development of hyperinsulinemia, atherosclerosis, heart attack or stroke), and lipid disorders.
