Wierzba – źródło surowców leczniczych o działaniu przeciwzapalnym i przeciwbólowym

Summary
Many species and clones from the genus Salix are used as medicinal plants. However, the chemical composition some of them is still unknown, excepting salicyl derivatives. The pharmacological and pharmacokinetic studies on the extract from willow bark suggest, that other constituents, besides salicin, probably flavonoids, tannins may contribute to the antiinflammatory and analgesic activity. The article presents the results of pharmacological and phytochemical research on willow bark. Furthermore, the possibility to use of willow bark as analgesic remedy in treatment of ostheoarthritis is also discussed.
