Streszczenie
The authors present relationships between a child, his/her parents/caregivers and medical staff on the example of diagnostic imaging unit. They show expectations and problems of each party and prove that staff training should include contacts with little patients and their parents. This aims at realizing that the interests of patients are of paramount importance in health service and that learning this simple fact is essential for building relations between medical staff and patients. The authors refer to the method of conscious sedation and claim that it is still employed too rarely in spite of the fact that it helps alleviate fears of both, children and their parents during medical examination.
