Streszczenie
Anti-inflammatory treatment is the basis of long-term treatment of bronchial asthma. Although many drugs are credited, presently, with anti-inflammatory activity, glucocorticosteroids are still the drugs of first choice making possible the best control of symptoms. Factors are discussed ensuring treatment safety, potential systemic action of inhalatory glucocorticosteroids, i.e. their influence on the axis hypothalmus-hypophasis-adrenals, on growth, osseous metabolism, organ of vision and local adverse effects. Attention is called to the necessity of careful evaluation of risk and advantages of this method, remembering that the consequences of inadequate treatment (too low doses of inhalatory steroids or their omission) could be more serious than possible adverse effects.
