Streszczenie
Hypoglycaemia is the most frequent acute complication of type 1 diabetes mellitus. The frequency of severe hypoglycaemia is 3-6 episodes/100 patients per year. Severe neuroglycopaenia causes permanent brain damage especially in young children. Hypoglycaemia can be diagnosed when the blood glucose concentration is below 60 mg% (3,2 mmol/l). The cause of hypoglycaemia is a lack of balance of glucose production in a digestive tract and a liver and a tissue consumption. Symptoms, signs, laboratory features, treatment are described.
