Streszczenie
Neuropathic pain is subsequent to the pathological foci which arise within the central and peripheral nervous system, and the aim of therapy, including pharmacological, is to diminish or cease their activity through using drugs with the different mechanisms of action. The way to optimise pharmacological management of patients with chronic pain, especially those with neuropathic pain consists in, for example, selecting the effective and available drug combination supported by known mechanisms of action or identification of pain-generating mechanisms based on analysis of the effectiveness of the drugs used. Multidirectional management is indicated and includes not only anesthesiological, surgical or pharmacological methods but also rehabilitative programs, cognitive, behavioral therapies or adjunctive techniques for the purpose of better functioning even if the pain perceptions still continue.
